LAKE GEORGE — Americade, a weeklong motorcycle rally that has brought tens of thousands of enthusiasts to the village in June since 1983, will be held in late September this year in a nod to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Officially called the Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally, it is scheduled for Sept. 21 to 25, according to Christian Dutcher, Americade’s director.

Americade canceled after COVID-19 spikes in other states
“We want to make 100 percent sure that a 2021 Americade will happen, but we’re not confident an event of this size will be permissible in June,” Dutcher said in a statement. “Moving it to September gives us a very high likelihood of it happening.”
Finding an alternate date to Americade 2021 was challenging because it requires multiple venues to be available, and the event should not conflict another national motorcycle event, Dutcher said. The September dates were the only time that would allow for an Americade 2021, he said.
“I feared we may have had to cancel until Americade 2022, but miraculously we are able to slide it into September,” he said, adding, “A September date will allow participants to see the beauty of the Adirondacks at the peak of fall foliage and not overlap with annual family vacations that dominate Lake George from late June through Labor Day.”
Last’s year’s Americade was postponed to July before being canceled.
