Assistant Police Commissioner, Car Mechanic Sentenced to Everyday living Imprisonment in Ekiti

An Ekiti State Higher Court docket in Ado Ekiti has sentenced an Assistant Commissioner of Law enforcement, Akubo Abiye, and his mechanic, Ibrahim Afolabi, to everyday living imprisonment for receiving stolen car or truck.
Seven other folks, like a single Solomon Ayodele Obamoyegun, 39 Femi Omiawe, 40 Damilola Obamoyegun 20 Bose Sade Ajayi, 30 George Lucky, 35 Chukwuma Nnamani, 22, and Sunday Ogunleye, 45, were jailed for five a long time every without having any selection of great for kidnapping.
In his judgement, Justice John Adeyeye explained: “I observed the two of you responsible of getting stolen automobile. All proof pointed to the point that you ended up conscious that the automobile was stolen. You are hereby sentenced to lifestyle imprisonment for the offence.”

The offence runs contrary to sections 346(2), 1(2)a, and part 5 of the Prison Code Cap C16 legal guidelines of Ekiti State 2012, and theft and firearms special provisions Act, Cap R11, regulations of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
To show his situation, the prosecutor, Felix Awoniyi, called 7 witnesses even though exhibit tendered provided statements of the accused folks and bond to launch the van to the proprietor.
On the scenario of kidnapping desired towards the nine accused individuals, they spoke in their own defence by their counsel, who promised to review the verdict and acquire essential move.
